Asahi India Glass is India's leading integrated automotive glass maker, and it heads into Q2 FY 2026-2027 with passenger vehicle demand running hot — SIAM PV domestic sales rose 30.7% YoY to 1.36 million units in the quarter. The print will speak to whether Q1 FY27's momentum holds (standalone PAT up 183.77% YoY) and whether the Float glass business inflects under the new Rs. 34,000/MT minimum import price that came into force from 18 August 2026.

The board is scheduled to meet on 3 November 2026 to consider the Q2/H1 FY27 unaudited financial results, per the 27 October 2026 board intimation. The trading window was shut from 1 October 2026 until 48 hours after the disclosure under Regulation 29 of SEBI LODR.
The quarter's thesis is set by demand and policy: PV domestic sales of 1.36 million units in Q2 FY27 (+30.7% YoY, with UVs up 34.2%) give Asahi India Glass — which holds roughly 80% passenger-car glass market share and derives ~68% of revenue from the Auto Glass business — a strong volume backdrop, while the DGFT's Rs. 34,000/MT minimum import price on clear float glass, in force from 18 August 2026, provides a pricing umbrella for the Float segment for two of the quarter's three months. On costs, the picture is mixed: soda ash pricing is expected to remain weak with about 1.7 million tonnes of record global inventory and domestic pricing guided stable by Tata Chemicals, but the domestic gas price was notified at US$9.00/MMBTU for September 2026 and the Indian basket crude averaged $90.19/bbl in August 2026 versus $69.11 a year earlier — a headwind for furnace energy costs after power & fuel costs already rose 29.8% YoY in Q1 FY27. Management's stated yardstick from the FY26 annual report is the shift 'from building capacity to absorbing capacity', with Soniyana and Roorkee float investments 'expected to add to overall financial performance' from FY 2026-27 — making Q2 the second test of whether Float external revenue (down 0.36% YoY in FY26) turns and the 21.47% Q1 FY27 Float segment result margin holds. The company enters the quarter with borrowings of Rs. 2,058.67 Cr, debt-EBITDA of 2.15x and FY26 cash flow from operations of Rs. 501.69 Cr, against a stated ambition of delivering 'healthy ROCE' (10.67% standalone in FY26). The call is likely to cover the margin bridge behind FY26's EBITDA-PAT divergence (EBITDA +20.16% vs PAT -7.16%), progress on the conditional 25-30% power unit-cost reduction, and the consumer glass subsidiary, whose consolidated Q1 FY27 net profit came in Rs. 237 Lakh below standalone.

The DGFT imposed a minimum import price of Rs. 34,000/MT on clear float glass from 18 August 2026, giving the Float segment a pricing umbrella for two of the quarter's three months. Float external revenue had declined 0.36% YoY in FY26, so Q2 is a test of whether the segment turns around.
SIAM PV domestic sales were 1.36 million units in Q2 FY27 (July-September 2026), up 30.7% YoY, with UVs up 34.2% and passenger cars up 24.9%. FADA retail registrations corroborated the wholesale print, with September 2026 PV retails of 4,27,213 units, up 32.10% YoY — a best-ever September.
Consolidated EBITDA rose 20.16% while PAT fell 7.16% in FY26. Lines that moved against PAT include finance costs up Rs. 7,555 Lakh (+58.89%), depreciation up Rs. 9,314 Lakh (+48.63%), an exceptional swing from +Rs. 3,183 Lakh to Rs. (1,174) Lakh, and associate profit falling from Rs. 264 Lakh to nil; the retrieved documents do not provide a management explanation linking these lines.
Standalone revenue rose 15.41% YoY to Rs. 1,320.11 Cr in Q1 FY27, with Automotive Glass gross revenue at Rs. 949.23 Cr and Float Glass at Rs. 545.22 Cr for the quarter. Automotive external revenue grew 12.70% in FY26 while Float external revenue declined 0.36% YoY.
Management stated that the largest investment cycle in the company's history is complete, with approximately Rs. 2,500 Cr deployed over three financial years and FY26 capex of Rs. 666.26 Cr, down 47.45% from Rs. 1,267.98 Cr in FY25. The CMD said the next phase must be about 'consolidation, optimisation, superior cash generation and higher returns', with plans to deliver 'healthy ROCE' (10.67% standalone in FY26).
