Castrol India, the bp-group lubricants maker with brands like CRB, GTX, Activ and MAGNATEC, heads into its September-quarter print with commodity and feedstock inflation guided to become 'more visible in the third quarter'. The key things this results will speak to are whether EBITDA margin reverts into the company's reaffirmed 21%-24% operating band after the one-time-inventory-flattered ~26% print, and whether broad-based volume growth stays at 2x the market's ~3.5%-4% pace.

The board will meet on Saturday, 24 October 2026 to approve unaudited results for the quarter and nine months ended 30 September 2026 (Regulation 29, SEBI LODR). The trading window for designated persons remains shut from 30 September to 27 October 2026 (both days inclusive).
The post-earnings analyst call is scheduled for Monday, 26 October 2026, 12:30-1:15 pm IST, with dial-in access for India, USA, UK, Singapore and Hong Kong. Management representation includes Mr. Saugata Basuray, Managing Director, and Ms. Mrinalini Srinivasan, Whole-time Director & CFO.
The quarter is set up as a margin test: management guided that commodity and feedstock inflation impact would become 'more visible in the third quarter', and the cost backdrop duly tightened, with Brent settling above $100 on 9 September and exiting near $108 on 18 October, India Group II base oil import prices at $1,560/t (N150) and $1,650/t (N500) in the week to 28 August, and the rupee near 95-96 through September with ~50% of COGS dollar-denominated and hedged only ~60 days ahead. Demand, by contrast, enters strong: SIAM data show September PV dispatches +21.8% YoY to 4,54,574 units and two-wheelers +13.5% to 24,63,103, with the industry recording its highest-ever Q2 sales, supporting the volume leg of the 2x-market-growth guidance against a market growing ~3.5%-4%. The drag is rural: IMD's season summary shows June-September rainfall at 87% of LPA (759.4mm, 4th lowest since 2001), and September tractor retail fell 12.6% sequentially, sitting squarely in the ~45,000-outlet rural belt management had flagged as an H2 demand risk. Two low double-digit price increases taken between January and June covered Q2 raw material increases 'with some expected to persist into Q3', and management said it stands ready for further pricing action if raw material or FX volatility increases. The call is also likely to cover corporate catalysts, including the BP stake divestment and open-offer timeline, the data-center cooling first customer order, and residual impact from the July 2026 Silvassa plant shutdown.
EBITDA margin vs the 21%-24% guidance band: Q2 printed ~26%, above the range, aided by a one-time inventory benefit.
Volume growth and pricing pass-through
BP stake divestment and strategic review

Cost and risk backdrop to monitor: Management-flagged pressures carried into and beyond the quarter.
Management said the two low double-digit price increases executed between January and June cover Q2 raw material increases, with some impact expected to persist into Q3. It added that it stands ready to take further pricing action if raw material or FX volatility increases.
Management has pushed back on breaking above the 24% EBITDA margin ceiling, noting margins are already at a level few lubricant companies sustain. Q2 CY26 printed ~26%, above the reaffirmed 21%-24% operating band, aided by a one-time inventory benefit.
Revenue rose to Rs. 1,871 Cr in the April-June 2026 quarter, up 25% YoY and 21% QoQ, with broad-based volume growth across the three businesses plus low double-digit pricing. H1 CY26 revenue stood at Rs. 3,417 Cr, up 17% YoY.
The company declared an interim dividend of Rs. 6.25 per share with its August 2026 results, payable on or before 2 September 2026. Management has guided to sustaining a regular payout in the 4.5%-4.8% range as stated, with the recent 90-91% payout including a special dividend for Castrol's 125th anniversary.
