Go Digit General Insurance is a digital full-stack general insurer offering motor, health, travel, property, marine and liability cover, and it heads into Q2 FY 2026-2027 results with general insurance industry premium flows growing ~8% while its own cumulative GDPI was still down 2.56% YoY. The print will be tested on whether the motor own-damage loss ratio — 75.9% in Q1 FY27 — stabilised as management guided, and on how far the deliberate profitability-over-growth de-growth has run.

The Board of Directors is scheduled to meet on Thursday, 5 November 2026, to approve the unaudited financial results for the quarter and half year ended 30 September 2026, along with the Limited Review Report. The insider trading window, closed since 1 October 2026, remains shut until 9 November 2026 (both days inclusive).
The central test this quarter is whether the motor own-damage loss ratio — 75.9% in Q1 FY27 against 69.3% a year ago — stabilised as management guided it would 'in the second quarter', with overall motor loss ratio already at 70.2% versus the FY26 base of 68.0%.
The topline direction is the second swing factor: Go Digit's monthly GDPI fell 9.41% YoY in July 2026 before turning positive at +5.14% in August, leaving cumulative FY27 GDPI at Rs. 4,020.29 Cr, down 2.56% YoY, with market share at 2.74% versus 3.08% a year earlier — so the September GI Council print will show whether the recovery extended.
Cost signals ran against the stabilisation case through the quarter, with OEM input inflation (copper ~+10%, steel ~+24%, rubber ~+53% CY-to-date), transport services inflation of +14.64% YoY, and an industry motor TP loss ratio expected to rise 12–15% from the Supreme Court judgement, while the Gujarat floods are expected to generate ~Rs. 5,000 Cr of industry claims, mainly property lines with motor claims expected to follow.
On regulation, IRDAI's 23 September 2026 consultation paper proposes shifting the expenses-of-management basis from 30% of GWP to 20% of domestic GDPI over five years — a live issue for Digit, whose EOM ratio of 39.0% in Q1 FY27 exceeded IRDAI limits with forbearance sought.
The results also land on the same day as the 5 November 2026 EGM to approve the Go Digit Infoworks amalgamation, and the quarter follows Fairfax's 15 October 2026 proposal to contribute its interests in Go Digit General Insurance to IDBI Bank, a transaction subject to RBI, SEBI and IRDAI approvals with no binding agreements.
Motor OD loss ratio vs Q2 FY27 stabilisation guidance: The single most important checkpoint for this call.
GWP trajectory and market share after first-ever loss
Combined ratio and EOM compliance
Health, fire and retention trends
Infoworks amalgamation and Fairfax–IDBI updates
Kamesh Goyal said 'I own this failure', citing heavy new-car and first-year own-damage writing in FY24-25 and a renewal-protection call that was wrong in hindsight. Motor OD loss ratio reached 75.9% in Q1 FY27, driven by private car and industry-wide post-COVID factors.
Management attributed the high EOM ratio to business mix (two-wheeler and retail motor) rather than commissions, and said it would be below 30% with a large-private-player mix. The company declined to use reinsurance commission set-offs used by some peers, and forbearance was sought for the Q1 FY27 exceedance.
No — Q1 FY27 GWP fell 8.42% YoY to Rs. 2,730.86 Cr while the industry grew 10.9%, with fire de-grown 37% and motor OD GDPI down 3.0% as deliberate corrective actions. Net Premium Earned did rise 7.61% YoY to Rs. 2,006.96 Cr on higher retention of 76.7%.
Management guided that motor OD loss ratio would hopefully come under control 'in the second quarter' (Q2 FY27), making this results print the key checkpoint. Q1 FY27 OD loss ratio was 75.9%, and overall motor loss ratio at 70.2% was already above the FY26 base of 68.0%.
On the Q3 FY26 call, management illustrated an annualised IFRS ROE of about 14%, based on adjusted profit of roughly Rs. 590–600 Cr on about Rs. 4,400 Cr of net worth. The company has also committed to publishing the combined ratio on an IFRS basis on a regular basis.
