GE Vernova T&D India makes transformers, switchgear and grid equipment for India's power transmission build-out, and its Q2 print lands amid record copper prices and a first-ever quarter-on-quarter backlog decline. The results will speak to whether order intake recovers after a 30% YoY drop in Q1 and whether EBITDA margins hold the guided mid-20s band as commodity costs flow through execution.

Per the board-meeting intimation dated October 12, 2026, the Board will meet on October 30, 2026 to consider the Q2/H1 FY27 results. The trading window was shut from October 1 to November 1, 2026.
A Rs. 10/share (500%) FY26 final dividend, totalling about Rs. 256.05 Cr (20.76% of FY26 PAT), was approved at the 70th AGM on September 9, 2026. Payment is expected in Q2 FY27, subject to the approval already received.
The Q2 print will test two things at once: whether order intake recovers after Q1's 30% YoY fall to Rs. 11.4 Bn, and whether EBITDA margin holds the guided mid-20s band as copper climbed from around $13,000/t in early July to successive records in late August and early September, holding near $14,300/t into mid-October. Execution momentum looks supported by the Rs. 209.3 Bn backlog (roughly 3.5x last FY revenue), August IIP electrical-equipment output up 30.9% YoY, and 4,301 ckm of transmission lines added in FY27 up to August. The commodity squeeze deepened through the quarter — Indian HRC hit a four-year high of Rs. 63,900/t by mid-September — but transformer contracts carry IEEMA-based price-escalation clauses while the non-transformer/turnkey business re-prices with a 1-2 year lag, so gross margin likely stays under year-on-year pressure with EBITDA cushioned by the HV ramp-up and export mix. Management reiterated the FY27 EBITDA guidance of mid-20s on the August 7, 2026 call and the Rs. 7,000-8,000 crore base-order inflow target, with the Barmer–South Kalamb L1 (declared September 7, 2026) still awaiting a disclosed award conversion as of the note date.
Performance vs guidance tracking: Key management targets and where they stood entering the quarter:
Order intake and backlog direction
RPT and export order pipeline
Commodity pass-through and margin bridge
Cash deployment and dividend payment
Q1 FY27 order intake fell 30% YoY to Rs. 11.4 billion, which management attributed primarily to lower realization of TBCB orders in the market in Q4 FY25-26. Management advised evaluating order intake on a yearly rather than quarterly basis.
GE Vernova T&D India was declared L1 bidder on September 7, 2026 for a 6,000 MW (2×3,000 MW), ±800 kV HVDC LCC terminal station for Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, with no contract value disclosed. Final award confirmation had not been disclosed as of the note date.
Management reiterated the FY27 EBITDA margin guidance of mid-20s on the August 7, 2026 call, saying there was no reason to deviate. Q1 FY27 EBITDA margin came in at 25.1%, within the band.
Exports are about 10%-15% of the total order backlog, with an export order book mix of 30%-35% expected long term. 80%-90% of export orders originate from group entities.
Transformer contracts carry IEEMA-based price-escalation clauses (for example, CRGO steel), while the non-transformer/turnkey business re-prices with a 1-2 year lag. Management said pass-through was achieved but without extra margins, and gross margin moderated to 41.3% in Q1 FY27 from 48.4% a year ago.
