One 97 Communications (Paytm) is a fintech platform spanning merchant payments, financial services distribution and consumer monetization, reporting into a quarter where UPI volumes rose about 5.8% QoQ and merchant GMV growth accelerated to 31% YoY in Q1 FY27. The print will speak to whether EBITDA margin expansion continues from the 8% print toward the guided 15-20%, and how the deferred NPCI UPI MDR framework — pushed to post-Diwali with no date notified — reshapes the monetization story.

The board will meet on Monday, October 26, 2026, to approve the unaudited standalone and consolidated results for Q2 and H1 FY27 (quarter/half-year ended September 30, 2026).
The earnings call is scheduled for October 27, 2026, from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. IST.
The quarter's thesis rests on whether Paytm's operating leverage keeps compounding: Q1 FY27 delivered revenue of Rs. 2,448 Cr (+28% YoY), EBITDA of Rs. 203 Cr at an 8% margin, and PAT of Rs. 220 Cr, against standing guidance of more than 30% revenue growth and 15-20% EBITDA margin over two to three years that management called 'intact'. Demand proxies moved up through the quarter — NPCI data shows UPI volumes of roughly 72,236 Mn transactions in Jul-Sep, +5.8% QoQ, and value of about Rs. 89.08 Lakh Cr, +1.4% QoQ — while personal-loan growth of 16.2% YoY and retail loan growth of 21.4% YoY in July support the Distribution of Financial Services line, which grew 45% YoY to Rs. 814 Cr in Q1. The margin bridge runs through indirect expenses (Rs. 1,147 Cr, +6% YoY in Q1) growing far slower than revenue, with two offsets to watch: Net Payment Margin drifting from 8.8 to 8.4 bps of GMV on merchant waivers, and other income guided lower as maturing investments are reinvested at lower yields with the repo at 5.25% through the quarter. The UPI MDR lever produced no Q2 revenue — NPCI deferred the up-to-0.4% MDR on P2M transactions above Rs. 2,000 to immediately post-Diwali on a date not yet notified — so any P&L contribution shifts to Q3 FY27 at the earliest. Regulatory overhangs partially de-risked in the window: the First Games GST liability was finalized at Rs. 703.66 Cr versus Rs. 5,712 Cr proposed (~88% lower, no incremental impact), while the FEMA SCN of about Rs. 611 Cr — now before RBI via a compounding application — and the SEBI SCN to KMP remain pending. The call is likely to cover the EBITDA margin bridge, MDR quantification, PIDF offset progress beyond the 30-40% achieved in Q4 FY26, and deployment plans for the Rs. 13,529 Cr cash balance.
EBITDA margin vs 15-20% target: Q1 FY27 printed an 8% EBITDA margin against the two-to-three-year guidance.

Management responded that growth is broad-based across every business — payments to small and large merchants, consumer payments, and financial services — and identified no immediate downside risks to revenue. Merchant GMV growth accelerated to 31% YoY in Q1 FY27 from 27% in Q4 FY26.
Management has guided to a 15-20% EBITDA margin in the next two to three years, 'potentially sooner', from the 8% printed in Q1 FY27. It added that structural margins are significantly higher than 15-20%, though the CFO declined to give a terminal number, calling it a trade-off between pursuing growth and building a larger business.
NPCI introduced MDR of up to 0.4% on UPI P2M transactions above Rs. 2,000, but deferred implementation on October 13, 2026 to immediately post-Diwali with the date not yet notified, so no MDR revenue lands in Q2 FY27. Management treats UPI monetization as upside rather than a planning dependency, saying 'whatever will come will come in the bottom line'.
The GST order finalized the liability at Rs. 703.66 Cr plus penalty equivalent to the tax plus interest, versus Rs. 5,712 Cr proposed in the April 28, 2025 SCN — about 88% lower. The company stated there is no incremental financial impact on One 97, as FGTPL's carrying value was nil as of March 31, 2026.
Revenue rose to Rs. 2,448 Cr in Q1 FY27, up 28% YoY and 8% QoQ, with Payment Services up 33% YoY and Distribution of Financial Services up 45% YoY. On the company's comparable basis excluding the PIDF incentive, revenue grew 31% YoY.
