Management sees 7-10% tea procurement inflation with peak cropping just beginning, and has taken minor June price increases with further hikes planned to defend margins. It declined to call a trend for 15-30 days, though auction prices subsequently fell up to 17% from July to mid-August.
Despite the 47% Q1 FY27 print, management said 'our guidance remains 30% growth' for the short to medium term. Growth businesses now contribute 36% of the India business.
Management has guided to 50-70 bps of EBITDA margin expansion for FY27 off the 13.9% FY26 base, with the MD stating '50 to 75, 80 bps is a given. I mean it's not an option. We will deliver it.'
Tata Salt carries a 5-7% revenue growth target in the near term, with price hikes from June 1 expected to take about a quarter to settle. Market share is ~39% with an ambition to cross 40% 'very, very quickly'.
